FCB coy about redundancy

AUCKLAND, Today: FCB has confirmed that chief creative officer Tony Clewett has accepted a redundancy package, and actually left the agency a full two months ago– reportedly to set up his own creative consultancy.

“Tony Clewett left FCB in April after the CCO position was disestablished,” FCB head of PR Harriet Mahaffie told M+AD.

“It is the agency’s position not to comment further out of respect for those involved.”

“However, it is the agency’s position not to comment further out of respect for those involved.”

Mahaffie’s message arrived a full 12 hours after M+AD attempted to clarify the rumours of Clewett’s departure – with FCB MD Toby Sellers effectively pulling a disappearing act by not accepting persistent phone calls.

Plenty to say about Vegas & Wall
The agency had no trouble, however, advising the world last week of its promotion to ECD roles of Leisa Wall and Peter Vegas – presumably a decision made along with the plan to can Clewett (but not mentioned in the FCB PR appointment notice).
