London-based creative company Contagious (offices in London, New York, Singapore, Sao Paulo and Portland) has released its Contagious Pioneers 2017 rankings list, naming Colenso BBDO Auckland as #3 best & bravest agency on the planet.
In a graphic salute to Transtasman creativity, the Pioneers list starred Australasian shops (both BBDO agencies) who took out two of the top three awards – Colenso and Clemenger Melbourne, which came in second.
No 1 in the world was Edelman Deportivo Stockholm.
The Pioneers list honours agencies that consistently set the standard for excellence and innovation in marketing.
The list is based on an analysis of the Contagious I/O intelligence platform – a global database of innovative and effective marketing.
The best, in order, were:

- Prime, Stockholm
- Iris, London
- Forsman & Bodenfors, Stockholm

Agencies are ranked by the quantity of work they produced that was featured on Contagious I/O during 2016. This total score is then weighted, taking into account factors such as consistency – the ratio of campaigns created to the number of clients they were created for.
“It’s important to recognise that it’s damned hard for an agency to have any of its work featured on Contagious I/O, let alone a significant number of campaigns,” said Contagious editor Alex Jenkins.
“Our focus is on quality over quantity.”
