AUCKLAND, Tuesday: The Comms Council has appointed Rufus Chuter as chair of the Media Committee, replacing DAN chief commercial officer Rachel Anderson Cormack, who is stepping down. The appointment is effective immediately.
Comms Council ceo Simon Lendrum said: We would like to extend a big thank you to Rachel for all her contributions to the committee and to Rufus for taking over the reins.”
Chuter is managing partner and co-founder of independent media agency Together, the 2022 Beacons Media Agency of the Year.
He’s worked in the media and advertising industry for 20 years in both the UK and New Zealand.
“It’s never a dull moment in media and we’ve got plenty to do to ensure the ongoing prosperity of media agencies in Aotearoa.”
Starting out on the McCann Erickson graduate scheme in London, Rufus has held various leadership and strategy roles within integrated and global media agencies including Starcom, MEC and FCB before founding Together in Auckland in 2018.
He’s has served on the Media Committee twice, first while MD of FCB Media.

“The difference that media agencies make has never been more important, so I’m really excited to be helping navigate the way forward with such a strong and committed Media Committee.”
