LONDON, Last night: New Zealand scored 10 D&AD Pencils at the 57th awards ceremony, including a Yellow Pencil (equivalent to Gold), a Graphite (Silver), and eight Wood Pencils (Bronze).

The Yellow (plus three Woods) went to Colenso BBDO. A Graphite went to FCB/Assembly, while the other Woods went to Ogilvy, Clemenger BBDO, FCB, Saatchi & Saatchi, and VMLY&R.

D&AD ceo Tim Lindsay said: “It has been another outstanding year for global creativity, with entries received from 73 countries. The theme for this year’s festival has been Shaping the Futur” and that’s very much been reflected in the campaigns we’ve had the privilege of seeing, many of which attests to the power of creativity to help build a better future.

“The work I have seen has been fantastic and everyone on the jury and everyone who has seen the final list of Pencil-winning work has been knocked out by the quality. It is a hugely encouraging sign for the buoyant and vibrant direction of our industry.”

The top three ad agencies were Droga5, adam&eveDDB, McCann New York.

The top three production companies were Academy Films, Furlined, and Somesuch.

The US topped the country rankings, with the UK second, and Germany third. Australia finished 8th (with 23 Pencils). NZ came 14th.
