AUCKLAND, Today: Hot on the heels of its impressive 5G campaign launch, Vodafone NZ is celebrating another innovation, teaming up with DDB to relaunch VodafoneTV.

The new campaign, titled The One, demonstrates to Kiwis that “in a world of dizzying choice and confusing content platforms, VodafoneTV is here to make TV simple again”.

VodafoneTV brings everyone’s favourite apps and entertainment into a central hub, acting as a one-stop-shop for TVNZ, Three, Netflix, Lightbox, Neon, YouTube, Play Stuff, free-to-air, Sky and more.

“In the interest of simplicity and accessibility, VodafoneTV is available to everyone, whether you’re a Vodafone network customer or not,” said Vodafone NZ Masterbrand manager Nileema Allerston.

“To personify the idea of all your favourite content in one place, DDB and Vodafone enlisted NZ’s ultimate ‘chameleon’ entertainer – Cliff Curtis.

“The versatile New Zealand actor was directed in the engaging tvc by acclaimed filmmaker Lee Tamahori (of Once Were Warriors fame). The spot showcases Cliff’s many cinematic incarnations (including adventure Cliff, arthouse Cliff and gangster Cliff) to demonstrate the huge range of entertainment  you can find on VodafoneTV.

DDB ANZ regional CCO Damon Stapleton said: “Working with cliff and Lee was a fantastic experience, and marrying two icons of Kiwi entertainment with NZ’s new hub of streaming entertainment was the perfect pairing.

“Marrying two icons of Kiwi entertainment with NZ’s new hub of streaming entertainment was the perfect pairing.”

“These days there are a lot of complicated content platforms out there and VodafoneTV simplifies all that. It’s all your favourite content streaming in one place. That’s what we wanted to capture with The One,” says Damon.

Nileema Allerston says she’s excited to see Kiwis embrace VodafoneTV in their living rooms.

“As the new tvc suggests, VodafoneTV is intuitive and effortless, bringing together content platforms into one central entertainment hub. The ease of use and plug-and-play features mean anyone can turn their TV into a smart TV and make smart TVs even smarter. Kiwis can now spend less time toggling between their different devices and more time enjoying their favourite shows.”

For his part, Tamahori enjoyed being part of this project which allowed him to catch up with his good friend Curtis and pay tribute to his cinematic history.

“When I was asked to direct Cliff in this ad, of course I said yes. Cliff’s the perfect example of the limitless expressions of entertainment, which is what this VodafoneTV commercial is all about”

Curtis said: “It’s a very exciting time for audiences to watch their favourite movies and shows whenever and wherever they want and Vodafone has a perfect way to make that easier than ever.”

VodafoneTV The One launches this month in 60”, 30’’ and 15” formats, YouTube spots, out-of-home executions, social, search and programmatic display.
