International express services provider DHL is celebrating its 15-year partnership with Surf Life Saving NZ with a $10,000 virtual treasure hunt for New Zealanders all over the country, organised by Auckland digital agency Darkhorse.

“Swimming between DHL’s red and yellow patrol flags helps to keep Kiwis safe in over 80 of our beaches every summer,” says Darkhorse head of digital Francesca Bowden.

“So – for a month from today, DHL is encouraging players to drop a virtual flag and find the buried treasure in their local patrolled beaches.”

The closest flag to the secret treasure co-ordinates will win $10,000 cash, $5000 of which will be donated to a Surf Life Saving Club of the winner’s choice.”

“I’m proud to celebrate this milestone with DHL and we are incredibly grateful for their ongoing support of our clubs.”

DHL Express NZ manager Mark Foy said: “We’re incredibly proud to be celebrating 15 years of partnership with Surf Life Saving New Zealand this year. We hope people enjoy the opportunity to support their local club through Drop Your Flag, not to mention the cash prize which will help the lucky winner enjoy their Kiwi Summer just a little bit more this year.”

Surf Life Saving NZ ceo Paul Dalton said: “I’m proud to celebrate this milestone with DHL and we are incredibly grateful for their ongoing support of our charity organisation and our clubs. This campaign highlights their dedication to helping us deliver safer beaches by focusing on the red and yellow patrol flag and the need to always swim between them at our patrol locations.”

The DHL Drop Your Flag competition runs until Monday 19 March.
