CAANZ has appointed London-based Effectiveness Partnership strategic consultant Ali Bucknall as its international judge for this years’s Effie Awards (held in association with TVNZ).

Bucknall has extensive advertising and communications experience in agencies big and small, local and international including CDP, WCRS, D’Arcy, Leo Burnett and Elvis – the latter two as executive planning director.

She’s worked across most business sectors with brands including P&G (global responsibility for Always), Orange (development and launch of the brand), McDonald’s, Fiat and the British Government (NHS and Police, Crime and Benefit Fraud prevention).

She “believes passionately” in the link between great ideas, great creativity and commercial success, and for the past six years has worked as a consultant helping a wide ranging group of businesses and individuals be more effective, more creative and more successful through strategic consultancy, qualitative research, coaching and mentoring.

She’s won four APG awards, co-authored an IPA Gold and has been a judge for the 2007 European Effectiveness Awards, the 2011 IPA Effectiveness awards and a final stage judge for the 2015 Euro Effies.

She’s also an IPA effectiveness mentor and a member of WACL (Women in Advertising & Communications London). As a consultant for The Effectiveness Partnership, she has helped to coach individuals and companies in planning for effectiveness as well as helping them achieve success in IPA, Effie, AME and APG awards and has helped to run a strategic storytelling course for the APG.

Bucknall was brought up in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Germany, Zimbabwe and the UK. She enjoys travelling and exploring new places and finding out what makes people and cultures tick. She lives in London with her comedy-agent husband, three teenage children, a dog and a cat.

With NZ cousins, and children whose formative years were heavily influenced by Kiwis, she’s “excited to be visiting New Zealand for the first time”.
