AUCKLAND, Wednesday: FCB Aotearoa has announced the appointment of Matt Kingston to its senior leadership team, as he joins the agency as chief strategy officer.

FCB Auckland ceo Paul Wilson said: “Continuing the agency’s momentum of the last few months, Matt’s appointment follows a slew of new client wins, leadership appointments and creative accolades.”

“Matt is a vastly experienced and talented strategist, and all-round good human. I’m thrilled that he is joining the team at FCB to lead our strategy offering working across both our Auckland and Wellington offices.

“I’m excited about what we can achieve together from here, and everything he will bring to the business, culture and our clients.”

Kingston brings 20 years’ experience working for successful agencies and consultancies in the ANZ region – including Deloitte, Host Sydney, Clemenger BBDO Melbourne and Special Group.

He returns to the agency world after 18 months working as an independent strategy consultant, advising clients including Trade Me, Pic’s Peanut Butter and Adidas.

“He has judged locally and internationally, including most recently at the WARC Effectiveness Awards.”

His work has been recognised at local and international creative & effectiveness shows. Whilst head of strategy for TBWA, he helped contribute to consecutive Client of the Year wins at the local Effies for both ANZ and 2degrees. He has judged locally and internationally, including most recently at the WARC Effectiveness Awards.

FCB co-CCOs Leisa Wall and Peter Vegas said: “We’ve been big fans of Matt and his work for ages.

“Until recently we’ve had to admire him from afar, but now he’s had the restraining order lifted and agreed to join the team we are looking forward to a much closer working relationship.”

Matt Kingston said: “Taking a leap back into agency-land was a big decision and not one I took lightly, but with the talent, capabilities and clients of FCB – the opportunity to help create truly world-class work was too compelling.

“Getting to play a role in writing the next chapter of an agency with such a proud legacy of strategy and effectiveness is something I’m really looking forward to.”
