Film Construction rising stars Harriett Maire and Ferris Bradley have seen their short film, Lani’s Space, chosen as one of 15 finalists for Cinespace – a new short film competition created by NASA and the Houston Cinema Arts Festival.
The film, about a solo father’s journey to understand his daughter’s love of space, will also play at the Houston festival on 10-17 November.
Cinespace aims to give filmmakers around the world a chance to share works inspired by and using actual NASA imagery.
The 21-year-old director, Harriett Maire said: “I loved writing this story. Ten percent of the footage we used had to be NASA stock imagery which really helped form the idea and narrative.
- “We’re also really excited that the competition is going to be judged by American director Richard Linklater (Slacker, Dazed & Confused, Before Sunrise, Before Sunset).
“The fact that he will be watching our film is huge.”
