Falling revenues have led to the closure of Tangible Media’s NZ Fishing World glossy magazine, which is switching its output to digital.
“It was just a rational decision,” NZ Fishing World editor Jeff Strang says.
Tangible Media ceo John Baker said tough market circumstances meant the NZ Fishing World team had to take action. “We had choices to make: close down or sell, scale up to exploit the digital opportunity or invest in a digital only business,” Baker says.
“We chose to invest in digital.”
The difficulties of making a buck out of print titles was reflected earlier in the year when Tangible cut back NZ Marketing Magazine from a bimonthly to a four-monthly publishing cycle – a move Tangible is also taking with Idealog.
