AUCKLAND, Today: Design leaders Simon Velvin, Dean Poole and Ben Corban of Alt Group are organising a series of five business events that aim to keep us in the frame for “our imminent dynamic universal society”.

“Keeping up with the future can be hard to do,” says Alt Group CD (and co-founder) Dean Poole.

Future of the Future 2019/20 is a series of five business events where global change agents from some of the world’s best-known companies explore and expand on their ideas to push through the challenges of today and grasp the opportunities of tomorrow.”

FotT is presented by Spark Lab “where commerce and creativity connect” and is aimed at business executives, innovators and design makers.

“These are high-impact business briefings,” says Poole. “We want to get people in a room and pose provocative questions.”

Spark brand experience lead Sarah Williams said: “Partnering with FotF is an exciting move for Spark as we ready New Zealand businesses for the future. We’re giving Kiwi businesses access to an array of world-class visionaries who will help shape the future.”

“Speakers include the leaders of Kickstarter, Microsoft AI+Bing, Massive Change Network, Google, and Spotify.”

The series kicks off on in just over a week – on Wednesday 22 May – with a Spark Lab event featuring San Francisco-based Instagram head of design Ian Spalter, a champion of diversity in the arena of digital design, with a particular interest in how culture influences technology.

Then on Thursday 15 August, the Aotea Centre will play host to a stellar FotF programme featuring talks and workshops from energetic, influential voices – leading figures in some of the world’s most disruptive companies.

Speakers already confirmed for the day-long conference include: Chicago-based Charles Adler (the co-founder of Kickstarter and founder of Lost Arts); Seattle-based Ana Arriola (Microsoft AI + Bing), Bruce Mau (co-founder of Massive Change Network); Ivy Ross (vice-president of design at Google, and Chris Wiggins, former vice president of product design at Spotify.

This event is open to anyone.

In 2017 FotF was launched as a stand-alone, one-off event during Semi Permanent, New Zealand’s largest creative conference. “It’s the next step to develop it as a series run across the year and we are extremely fortunate to welcome a partner of the calibre of Spark Lab on board,” says FotF co-founder Simon Velvin. “Our collective vision is to connect, learn and to inspire new thinking within the New Zealand business community.”

Spark’s Sarah Williams: “Those who come along should expect to be inspired and take away tangible learnings that they can implement across a range of businesses.”
