NEW YORK CITY, Sunday: The One Show’s Jack Mello writes: “Thanks to M+AD! for posting the update about the Sweetshop/Colenso BBDO One Show 2020 Gold Pencil win – apologies again to you and them for the original omission.
“Upon looking into the situation, it appears our automated entry system categorized the work as a US entry based on where the submission originated, which is why the work did not appear on the winners spreadsheet as coming from NZ.
“Only 171 entries out of nearly 20,000 won a 2020 Gold Pencil – quite an accomplishment.”
“With 19,688 pieces entered from 71 countries, we have to rely on an automated system which thankfully does the job 99+% of the time but is only as accurate as the information entered into it.
“Thanks again for your understanding, congrats to Sweetshop and Colenso BBDO on some amazing work that deserved One Show Gold.

Thanks
Ed David Gapes replies: “A generous response, Jack. Apology not required – these things happen.”
