AUCKLAND, Saturday: M+AD was accused of cribbing after we republished a very personal piece written by a Covid-19 sufferer on the Quora website.
“Guilty as charged,” said ed David Gapes, who proffered this explanation: “The piece was emailed to M+AD by a Kiwi journalist friend – who did indicate the source was Quora.
“Sadly, we missed that – but would like to reassure readers that this was pure oversight. We acted in the mistaken belief we were quoting a real journalist.
“This Quora item was a particularly powerful piece of writing – and M+AD was very pleased to run it.”
“As regular M+AD readers will know, we often republish comments from other media – and take pride (except this once!) to provide the source, and a link to the original.
