NZME has parted company with Pagemakers Ltd who, since 2007, have handled sub-editing requirements on contract for the NZ Herald, and all NZME regional papers.
The company says in a release that it will now “insource” its subbing requirements. The release did not elaborate on the meaning of this interesting word – but M+AD has heard the move will create a number of jobs (hopefully, real subs who work in situ).
NZME says it has advised Pagemasters that the existing contract will not be renewed in August.
Chief operating officer Phil Eustace says NZME will gain workflow efficiencies as a result of “insourcing” the sub-editing functions.
“The work will be completely centralised internally enabling us to strengthen production services across the group and expand our resources across our print and digital publishing.”
