AUCKLAND, Today: Immigration New Zealand has appointed Tilt Digital as its global digital media agency following a competitive pitch.

Tilt will be responsible for media strategy, planning and buying for INZ’s drive to attract high-quality migrants from around the world to New Zealand.

Tilt managing partner John Schofield said: “We’re thrilled to welcome INZ into the Tilt family of client partners, and we look forward to showcasing New Zealand to the world. It really is the best country in the world to work, live and raise a family.”

Internet Bureau founder Schofield set up Tilt in Newton, Auckland, in 2014.

He says the pitch process focussed heavily on demonstrating a willingness to collaborate in ways that would bring knowledge and insight to an already highly-qualified, digitally-focussed marketing team.

“Tilt will be responsible for media strategy, planning and buying for INZ’s drive to attract high-quality migrants.”

“It was a robust and well run process which re-imagined the traditional pitch formula by focussing less on the agency’s opinions of itself and more on outcomes achieved for clients,” he said. “We really appreciated the format because it enabled us to demonstrate our international media credentials in a much more meaningful way.”

INZ marketing manager Greg Forsythe said “We’re delighted to have joined Tilt’s high-calibre client list. Our global talent attraction programme is unique worldwide – and we believe Tilt’s experience and expertise make them the perfect agency to work with us to strengthen the programme to ensure it continues to deliver on behalf of New Zealand employers seeking highly-skilled workers.”

The incumbent?
M+AD encountered a minefield when we attempted to identify the incumbent. We believe it’s DNA or Clemenger/Touchcast – but Schofield was unable to confirm this. All he could say was that the contract was run as a competitive tender through the Government Electronic Tender System (GETS).

Scary and secretive
We then tried to contact somebody from Immigration NZ for this routine request – but the eerily spooky Immigration NZ site seems built only to scare the hell out of potential immigrants, and the only contact information it provides is the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) media line.

Sadly, all this produced was a recorded message.
