JWT & Mindshare win MoleMap

Leading skin cancer detection specialist MoleMap has appointed J Walter Thompson New Zealand as its agency of record, after a competitive pitch.

J Walter Thompson partnered with Mindshare, which will handle the media business for the account.

Sadly, neither the client nor the Auckland-based ad agency were able to provide further information – JWT simply did not answer its landline (+64 9 379 9625) for over an hour, while WPP ANZ’s Sydney-based PR person, Rebecca Tilly, said JWT had declined to answer our question …

… which was, who was the incumbent? And who were the other pitchers?

Agencies routinely decline to name other pitchers – but to not name the incumbent is rare. Odd, even!

About MoleMap
MoleMap was established in 1997 by a team of dermatologists who recognised that melanomas were being missed in routine skin checks, as doctors did not always have the technology or skills to recognise melanomas, particularly at the early stage. MoleMap has since diagnosed over 250,000 patients and assessed over 5 million moles through 50 clinics across New Zealand, Australia and the US. The company has 40 clinics across New Zealand.

We’re very much looking forward to working with J Walter Thompson and Mindshare to encourage more New Zealanders to visit MoleMap,” said NZ GM Sarah Nathan.

“We were impressed with their thinking and creative solution and are looking forward to our collaboration ensuring the good health of Kiwi skin in the years ahead.”
