Lion shooter’s PR people duck for cover

PR people are usually second only to barristers in their willingness to act for toxic clients. But it seems that even the Yank dentist who shot Cecil the Lion is beyond the pale with the PR sector.

“These days I make a living doing crisis and reputation management for besieged clients,” writes Bill Ralston in his latest Listener column. “So I can say with some authority dear Doc Palmer is beyond help, a fact recognised by American PR specialists who promptly ran for cover.

“The New York Daily News reported that even the publicists involved with lion killer Dr Walter Palmer need crisis managers, and the website of trade mag PR Week ran a poll of readers and found nearly 90% wouldn’t touch Palmer with a bargepole as he was unsalvageable.”
