AUCKLAND, Today: Following a competitive pitch, music licensing outfit OneMusic New Zealand has appointed Mango Communications as its PR agency of record. There was no incumbent.

OneMusic is a joint licensing initiative between copyright holders APRA, AMCOS and Recorded Music NZ.

It provides businesses with access to permission for the commercial use of millions of songs that make up the bulk of music protected by copyright in New Zealand and around the world.

OneMusic NZ director Greer Davies said: “Mango has been appointed to drive awareness for licences in both New Zealand and Australia, through increased understanding of the need for businesses to hold a licence for the music played in corporate spaces.

“This is a challenging brief that requires strategic thinking, creativity and commitment to supporting the arts.”

“The agency’s remit includes media relations, influencer and partnership management.

“OneMusic’s innovative ideas and understanding of the ‘doing the right thing’ aspect of our product plus our need to persuade emotionally as well as rationally gave Mango the advantage.”

Mango MD Sean Brown said: “We are delighted to be partnering with One Music to support the music industry and generate awareness of the importance of businesses paying artists for their intellectual property.

“This is a challenging communications brief and a fascinating topic that requires strategic thinking, creativity and commitment to supporting the arts.”
