Son of a gun!

When Mazda sought to update their global brand, they turned to a director who knows how to throw flash cars around – the son of legendary New Zealand filmmaker Geoff Murphy, who made Utu and the original Goodbye Pork Pie.

Matt Murphy is part of the sizeable Kiwi contingent at Sydney’s Goodoil Films (a select group that includes Hamish Rothwell, Nathan Price, and Lorde’s musivid director Joel Kefali).

The ad may look like it was shot in NZ’s Southern Alps – but the reality is it’s an unidentified mountain range in southern Victoria.

You can thank Sydney’s Alt VFX for the zebra!
