AUCKLAND, Monday: MBM has been confirmed as media agency partner for Burger King New Zealand (having started working on the account in May). The incumbent was VMLY&R. There was no pitch.

Previously, VMLY&R held both the creative and media side of BK – and continue to run the creative side.

MBM so-founder/managing partner Sean McCready said: “It’s a big win for MBM and we are really excited about working with a great client in a really interesting and highly competitive category.

“There’s a lot to do and we are relishing the opportunity to apply our strategic thinking, media buying skills and data-led communications approach.

“The team isn’t too upset at the increased workload – it’s essential to get into a bit of sampling to truly understand what customers get fired up about.”

“The QSR market is changing rapidly. We need new thinking from all our communications partners – particularly the media team.”

Burger King marketing manager James Woodbridge said: “We are excited about working with the MBM team. They have wasted no time really bedding in the account and we are looking forward to turning up the flames on our approach to media strategy.

“The QSR market is changing rapidly right now – including the exponential growth of home delivery and a focus on better, sustainable solutions for customers. It means we need new thinking from all our communications partners, particularly the media team.”

The account service team at MBM is led by group business director Will Tran, with Jaimee Croot (who recently joined MBM from OMD) as business manager.
