AUCKLAND, Today: Big news from New Zealand Media and Entertainment! They’ve announced two senior editorial appointments for their regional and community newsrooms. Scott Inglis steps up as North Island Regional Editor, while Kim Gillespie takes on Editor – Bay of Plenty and Communities.
Inglis brings 35 years of newsroom experience, including 16 as Regional Editor for the Bay of Plenty Times and Rotorua Daily Post. Now, he’s set to lead six regional titles and NZME’s new regional leadership hub.
Gillespie, who has nearly three decades of journalism under his belt, will head the Bay of Plenty Times and Rotorua Daily Post while continuing to oversee NZME’s community titles. He started his career at the Rotorua Daily Post and is excited to return as editor.

Murray Kirkness, NZME’s Editor in Chief, praised their appointments, saying: “Scott and Kim are excellent leaders and bring a wealth of experience and knowledge.” He added that their leadership will strengthen NZME’s commitment to regional and community journalism.
Inglis shared his excitement, ”I have had an amazing time leading the Bay of Plenty Times and Daily Post and worked with some very talented people.
“I am now looking forward to a new challenge in working with editors and newsroom leaders across NZME’s North Island stable and helping them and their teams deliver incredible journalism for our online audiences and loyal print subscribers.”
Gillespie noted, “I am looking forward to leading two daily titles that I have such high regard for. The Rotorua Daily Post was where I started my career and I’ve held several roles there over the years. It’s a privilege to be returning as editor of both the Rotorua Daily Post and Bay of Plenty Times.”
Both Inglis and Gillespie step into their new roles on Monday, 26 August.
