NZ comes 8th at D&AD – Australia 6th

The 56th D&AD Awards in London has ranked New Zealand as #8 creative advertising country in the world, with 21 Pencils. Australia ranked #6 with 31 Pencils.

527 Pencils were awarded on the final day, bringing the total for this year to 721 Pencils, decided by juries made up of over 250 of the world’s top creatives. 

Pencil winners will have to wait until the Awards Ceremony at the Truman Brewery London tonight (Thursday 26 April) to see what kind of Pencil – Wood, Graphite, Yellow or Black.

  • In total Colenso BBDO scored five Pencils for Pedigree Child Replacement Programme and one Pencil for Pedigree SelfieSTIX.
  • DDB scored four Pencils for Nescafe Re:Scam and three Pencils for Steinlager Fight for Territory.
  • FCB won three Pencils for Testicular Cancer NZ Go Balls Up and one Pencil for Health Promotion Agency The Lost Night.
  • Y&R scored two Pencils for Heinz Geoff (one with Assembly for Craft); Ogilvy scored one Pencil for NZ Police Recruitment; and J Walter Thompson scored a Pencil for Ford Ranger direct mail.

All 721 Pencils will appear in the 56th D&AD Annual published later this year.

The top ranking countries were:

  7. Brazil 25
  8. NZ
  9. Singapore
  10. Sweden

BBDO New York led the way with 26 Pencils, followed by Dentsu (18), David Miami and AMVBBDO (15 =), and McCann New York (13 Pencils)

All 721 Pencils will appear in the 56th D&AD Annual published later this year.
