Yesterday, M+AD ventured into dangerous territory, putting the boot (as you do) into our opposition at Tangible over falling revenues (and increasing online content) at three of its print titles. With this story, we ran three nice cover photos … and got one of them horribly wrong. Oh, the irony!
Instead of Tangible’s NZ Fishing World, we ran an image of the cover of NZ Fishing News – a successful title that has no direct connection to Tangible.
Learning of the error just a few minutes later, we moved fast and posted the right image.
Then came the email (you guessed it) from NZ Fishing News’s long-standing editor Grant Dixon, who, with colleague Grant Blair (www.fishing.net.nz), earlier this year purchased the title from Fairfax Media.
“We are alive and well,” he said, adding (whew!) that as a publisher himself, he knew how easy it can be to make a potentially lethal error.
“This event brings together the two biggest players in the recreational fishing media, covering the print and digital platforms.
“NZ Fishing News has taken over NZ Fishing World’s subscriber base as NZ Fishing World concentrates solely on its digital space.
“NZ Fishing News has an audited readership of 230,000 per month and is in its 39th year of publication.”
