AUCKLAND, Today: The New Zealand Television Awards proudly announces this year’s TV Legend and the 2024 finalists for the TV Personality of the Year.
This year’s TV Legend, Dame Julie Christie, has reshaped New Zealand’s television industry. As a former journalist and award-winning creator, her work on shows like Treasure Island, Dragons’ Den, and My House My Castle has influenced how local TV is produced and enjoyed.
“Dame Julie Christie has been a driving force behind some of New Zealand’s most successful television series,” says Committee member Kelly Martin. “She’s opened doors, inspiring those dedicated to telling New Zealand stories across reality TV, comedy, sports, drama, and more.”
Dame Julie’s dedication and passion have transformed the industry, making her a well-deserving recipient of this prestigious award.
The TV Legend Award celebrates individuals, programmes, or organisations that make significant contributions to New Zealand’s television industry. Past honourees include Oscar Kightley (2023) and Janine Morrell-Gunn (2022).
