AUCKLAND, Today: Calling all New Zealand creative teams. If your campaign audio aired on a New Zealand commercial radio station between 1st July 2023 and 30th June 2024, you could be one of this year’s ORCA winners.
The stakes are high, and entry is notoriously easy. Just upload your audio file and basic campaign details at trb.co.nz/orca.
A unique award for a unique channel
At a time of ongoing change in the NZ media landscape, commercial radio holds a uniquely strong position, with our total weekly audience continuing to grow to 3.426m listeners. But it’s not just the strength of our audiences that makes us unique. Savvy agencies and clients are also drawn to radio’s endless (and often boundary-pushing) creative opportunities.
And so, for over 20 years the radio industry has celebrated this uniqueness with an equally unique award programme. The much-loved ORCAs highlight the key role that great creative plays in driving effective audio campaigns. How? By acknowledging and rewarding the outstanding creative contributions of local creative teams and clients.
Prizes worth making a noise about
This year, there are two categories: Standard ORCA, for all your 15-60 second on-air spots, and Non-Standard ORCA, for any entries that are a little bit different (alternative lengths or formats e.g. adlets, announcer reads, traffic products, podcasts etc).
A Grand ORCA will be awarded for each category, with winning teams taking home:
- A $5000 cash prize
- A $5000 radio advertising schedule (rate card)*
- Coveted ORCA trophies
All entries will be judged by a panel of senior creatives based on four key criteria: creativity, execution, effectiveness, and innovation.
So, don’t miss your chance to broadcast your audio advertising skills! Entries close at 5pm on Thursday, 3rd October.
The nitty gritty
Creative teams working at TRB, NZME, MediaWorks or any other independent radio station in New Zealand are excluded from the competition, as these individuals are served by the industry specific New Zealand Radio Awards.
