Yahoo will use $1000 Botab prize to reward staff
Yahoo New Zealand won the Battle of the Ad Bands’ big Euro auction – and plans to use the prize to reward staff. The company’s $1000 bid on Botab night was not bettered on Friday, and CAANZ notified Yahoo! of the win this morning.
Arrivals & Departures
The Interactive Advertising Bureau has appointed Adrian Pickstock to the new role of Chief Executive Officer. He replaced general manager Alisa Higgins, who left in May to form her own company, Higgings Consulting. As CEO, Pickstock will be responsible for the overall management of the IAB and its objectives, and will report to Chairman Spencer Bailey.
Power in the TV/Cinema combo
Val Morgan has today released the first results in the Power of Cinema series which demonstrate the value of including cinema as part of a media strategy. “The findings prove that cinema significantly improves advertising effectiveness, delivering a 40% increase in the key metric of brand consideration,” says VM managing director Daniel Hill.
Thursday’s Mag Awards – the menu
Auckland’s War Memorial Hall in The Domain is the venue for this week’s NZ Magazine Awards. The doors open for pre-drinks in the Grand Foyer on the ground level at 6.30pm this Thursday (25 September); at 7.30 guests will be ushered upstairs to the Events Centre on the third floor, and the awards show kicks off at 7.45 sharp.

CAANZ has set the dates for its big three 2015 awards shows – Axis (to be held on March 10), the Beacons (formerly the Media Awards) on April 23, and Effie on October 8. “Missed out on the opportunity to enter the 2014 Effie Awards?” wonders CAANZ’s Nicky Monera. “Well perhaps you should have recorded the dates in your diary when we told you to! Start off by recording the following important dates!”
