
FCB backs up in Best Workplace Awards
FCB has been named as a finalist in the annual Best Workplaces Survey & Awards, announced this morning. No other comms agencies made the list, although many of their clients are there. This is the second time around for FCB – last year, the agency also made the shortlist, coming 5th.

In its quest for better data for its clients, Auckland-based analysts Data Insight has hired Ian Mills as its new general manager. He joins direct from Ipsos where he led the New Zealand team for the past nine years, and oversaw an expansion of services and products. His team won every Supreme Award at the biannual Research Effectiveness Awards since 2008.

Harper Photographics has announced that its studio is now for hire to film and video production companies. The studio is New Zealand’s largest – a 9x8x5 metre full infinity cyclorama studio, complete with drive-in access.

Yet another Carl’s Jr raunchy television ad featuring Paris Hilton has been banned in NZ by the Commercial Approvals Bureau – and thanks to the freedoms offered by the Internet, sites like this can screen it (above).
Yahoo will use $1000 Botab prize to reward staff
Yahoo New Zealand won the Battle of the Ad Bands’ big Euro auction – and plans to use the prize to reward staff. The company’s $1000 bid on Botab night was not bettered on Friday, and CAANZ notified Yahoo! of the win this morning.

The Interactive Advertising Bureau has appointed Adrian Pickstock to the new role of Chief Executive Officer. He replaced general manager Alisa Higgins, who left in May to form her own company, Higgings Consulting. As CEO, Pickstock will be responsible for the overall management of the IAB and its objectives, and will report to Chairman Spencer Bailey.
Power in the TV/Cinema combo
Val Morgan has today released the first results in the Power of Cinema series which demonstrate the value of including cinema as part of a media strategy. “The findings prove that cinema significantly improves advertising effectiveness, delivering a 40% increase in the key metric of brand consideration,” says VM managing director Daniel Hill.
