Jonny Brugh (What We Do in the Shadows) has swapped sexy vampires for a 90s ex-weather-man in the new Panasonic mockumentary launched today out of Grey Lynn brands agency Lemonade.

The 45, 30 and 15-second TVCs,directed by Nigel McCulloch (The Downlow Concept & Sunday Punch) show Jonny as ex-weather presenter Ray Morningside, complete with vintage suit and awe-inspiring moustache.

After discovering the Panasonic air conditioner, Ray is on a mission to stop the Weather Waffle. “I used to love talking about the weather, but times have changed,” Ray croons to the camera as he sneaks up on people embarking on those boring weather conversations.

“Now I have a new purpose. Panasonic air conditioner puts you in control so you’ll never have to weather waffle again.”

“I don’t want to hear the phrase, ‘winter is coming’, unless you’re talking about Game of Thrones.”

Panasonic marketing manager Lynda-Anne Bodger said: “Kiwis are obsessed with talking about the weather. It is the default conversation topic when there is nothing better to say. But ultimately, if you take control of your home environment there is no need to waffle on about the weather! and with Panasonic air conditioning you can control the weather all year round.”

“I don’t want to hear the phrase, ‘winter is coming’, unless you’re talking about Game of Thrones,” she says, echoing Ray.

“We expect Ray to become a bit of a big deal, with the campaign supported by TV, including a segment on The AM’s 9 in 10, Social Media, Bus Backs, and Radio.”

The Panasonic Air Con range includes, highwall heat pumps, multi room systems, ducted systems, and dehumidifiers. More info here: www.Panasonicaircon.co.nz
