SINGAPORE, Monday: Stockholm-based global agency Chimney Group* is expanding its APAC offering in line with the full range of services offered from Scandinavia. To drive their new and existing services forward, Chimney Singapore has recruited Brand Spanking NZ’s Mark Pickering for a new role as creative strategist & business director for APAC.
APAC (Singapore and Sydney) will now offer end-to-end digital content production, optimisation and distribution, utilising the global network and experience to deliver engaging content for businesses and brands.
Pickering told M+AD: “As you may have heard, last month I made a big move to a more global role here in Singapore with Chimney Group. Time was right to pivot into a new career path and become more internationally linked and to also diversify my creative skills.
“I’m now fully settled into life here in the new job in Singapore and can finally announce my move formally.”
Singapore-based APAC managing director Camilla Andersen said, “Mark brings award-winning skills in marketing and creative strategy to his new role where he will be tasked with developing new and existing client relationships as well as formulating new digital content concepts and delivering effective strategy to engage audiences.
“His career has seen him work at agencies across a number of markets, including Australasia, the UK and Ireland, where he began his role as creative strategist with agencies FCB Inferno, BD-Network, Brightspace Media, The House and Hey Human, before moving to New Zealand in 2006.
“Over the past 12 years as creative strategist and director, Mark built one of the most successful and progressive experiential agencies in the APAC region—Fluxx: Ideas in Motion, which merged with Brand Spanking three years later to form NZ’s largest agency in the field.
“Mark also sat as chair of the Commercial Communication Council of NZ’s PR, Experiential and Social Media Committee (Prescom), working with other leading agencies to educate and grow these marketing channels.
“I’m now fully settled into life here in the new job in Singapore and can finally announce my move formally.”
“He has also run a number of marketing workshops and seminars across the APAC region, including Singapore, and speaks regularly at conferences and events globally.
Pickering said, “After more than 20 years of success in the field of experiential marketing, it was time for a pivot into a global creative and business leadership role.
“In recent years, I’ve seen content creation and distribution form a key part of campaigns in NZ and around the world, and this has enabled us to achieve outstanding results for our clients as well as win a few awards along the way.
“Being asked to be part of one of the most successful and creative global content development networks at Chimney was too good an opportunity to turn down, and I am very excited to bring my knowledge and skills to this dynamic team in Singapore.”
Pickering will also work alongside Camilla Andersen to develop the business strategy with Chimney’s head office in Stockholm, and lead business growth across APAC. He will also work closely with Chimney’s Australia office, based in Sydney and led by Lewis Hunt.
Anderson said, “I originally met Mark 12 years ago, working with him as a client at Fluxx on my Vodafone Music projects and I was impressed with his knowledge and strategic thinking.
“After four years of successive growth in APAC, the timing is just right for someone of Mark’s experience and capability to join the team so I was keen to get him up to Singapore.
“More and more of our work is about delivering a holistic service to brands who want results, and I am very pleased that Mark agreed to join the team to spearhead our expansion.”
Chimney APAC works directly with brands Netflix, Dyson, Supabarn, and Facebook alongside agency clients MullenLowe, Hogarth, TBWA, Prodigious and Ogilvy.
Pickering will continue as a non-executive director with experiential agency Brand Spanking in NZ.
