Sky TV, with Fuse and OMD, has become the first brand in New Zealand to use the Promoted Stories feature on Snapchat.

Promoted Stories are a new way for brands to tell their stories in the same way Snapchatters and ‘Discover’ publishers do. “This new format allows advertisers to drive business results, like awareness and consideration, on a massive scale,” says Sky TV head of online Kristy Simpson.

“We are super keen to jump on board these new innovations in the social space to target specific audiences,” she said.

“Sky TV will offer their unique perspective around all things entertainment, lifestyle and sport on the channel. The focus is to provide exclusive content to those who follow the sky_nz Snapchat channel.”

“Key content in the near future is Thor: Ragnarok, Westworld S2, College Rugby, and a hunt for Sky’s next Snapchat voiceover artist.”

Sky social media manager Harry Barker said: “This is an exciting time for us as we have highlighted Snapchat and its platform in our strategy as an opportunity to engage with new and previously unreached audiences.

“We look forward to using Snapchat’s new feature to communicate the awesome content we have to offer in a fun and engaging manner. Watch this space.”

Key pieces of content that will be focused on in the near future will be Thor: Ragnarok, Westworld S2, College Rugby, and a hunt for Sky TV’s next Snapchat voice-over artist dubbed Sky TV Voice Jockey.

Promoted Stories for Snapchat will be launching to the rest of the market on Friday 27 April across New Zealand and Australia and will be available to book via Snapchat ads manager.
