CANNES, Last night: At the half-way mark of the 2019 festival, New Zealand entries have made shortlists and Bronze Lions aplenty – but we’ve yet to mine Silver or Gold.

Overnight, 11 more NZ entries made Lions shortlists, including …

  • Kiwi Goodoil director Michelle Savill (pictured, above) made the Cannes Young Directors shortlist.
  • Clemenger BBDO has four finalists in the Radio & Audio categories – all for Hawkes Bay Regional Council’s Look Right, Look Left campaign.
  • Colenso BBDO’s Mars Pedigree SelfieSTIX – already on multiple Lions shortlists – is in again in Creative Effectiveness. Colenso’s partners are ‘SelfieSTIX’ via Blockhead VFX, Collective Force, Department of Post, FINCH, Franklin Rd, Wavemaker and Flux. Last year Colenso scored a Gold Lion in the Creative Effectiveness Lions for Pedigree Child Replacement Programme.
  • VMLY&R’s Trade Me R.I.P. Simon is shortlisted for the Brand Experience & Activation Lions (with partners Fish, Kaleidoscope and MBM.
  • Colenso’s Spark Kupu makes the cut again – this time at shortlist stage of the Mobile Lions (with partners Creature, Franklin Road, Rush Digital Interactive, PHD, Drum, AUT and Tiki Taane.
  • And another big score for Colenso BBDO, which picked up three finalists in the Film Lions – two for Spark Generation Voice (with Finch, Franklin Road, The Editors, and PHD), and one for Spark Wedding Speech (with Finch, Franklin Road, Pivot Audio LA and The Editors).
