2017’s most likeable NZ tvc, McDonald’s Middle Seat (aka Stuck in the middle with you), unsurprisingly took out first place in the M+AD/Colmar Brunton in-depth March top 10 poll, with voters noting that its humour, music and easily relatable nature made it a firm favourite.
The magic’s in the music
NZTA’s My Balls are In Your Hands has blitzed the field in the latest Colmar Brunton poll to move up from #7 into the top spot this month, with the ad’s important message combined with the sharp use of humour standing out.
The NZTA blitz
The NZTA stormed the Top10 in January, with a remarkable three-telecampaigns catching the eye of the drivers of NZ. The newest of the trio – Thank You For Your Speed – demos effectively the NZTA’s new, positively slanted, switch in campaign direction.
Sandspit still setting records (updated)
Two new arrivals in our latest TVC Top 10 (supplied exclusively to M+AD by Colmar Brunton): 99’s New World Xmas clip, and Air NZ’s Summer Wonderland (shot in Australia!).
Mother’s Day!
On top for the first time this month is Lotto Mum’s Wish – out of the DDB/The Sweet Shop Imagine series, launched in July. “This,” says Colmar Brunton group account director Annikki Delacey (who supplies our monthly list), “is not surprising as it is a highly emotional ad with great creative qualities.”
Possums back at No 1
On top this week, once again, is Toyota’s Real Road Experts. “People enjoy the different variations of the ad and that it is always an alternating storyline,” says Colmar Brunton senior client executive Katrin Schulze.
Kiwi humour a surefire winner
Just one debut this month – FCB’s Mercury Energy rebrand (at #10). No 1 is Kevin Denholm’s Sandpit – clearly the most popular NZ TVC in years.
Colenso & Spark made magic happen
Just one debut in the top three in July – from Spark out of Colenso. The top two – Toyota’s possums spot and Vodafone’s Piggy Sue – are rapidly cementing themselves in as public favourites.
New-look trio take a bow
Two debuts and a refreshed favourite this month brought a new look to the Top 10 in June (till now, it’s been largely unchanged this year).
Old favourites dig in
Vodafone’s Piggy Sue is still going strong after a year of being on air. “People love the heart-warming story and the cute animal,” says Colmar Brunton client executive Katrin Schulze.
