OOH company Go Media has won a pitch for the exclusive Metlink media partnership with the Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC). GMS was the incumbent.

As of 15 July, over 400 Metlink buses servicing the Wellington region will be represented by Go Media. The contract remit includes selling, applying and removing bus-back advertising. Other ad-formats will roll out over the course of time.

GWRC issued a Request for Proposal seeking a sole media vendor to represent the Metlink public transport network.

GWRC public transport general manager Wayne Hastie said: ”We awarded the contract to Go Media given their excellent operational track record, team chemistry, sustainability innovations and their commitment to support community organisations.”

“Winning this contract was strategically important; it elevates our transit market share and provides a springboard to package advertiser solutions in the other markets we operate.”

The contract remit includes selling and applying & removing bus-back advertising.

Metlink is also launching a fleet of predominantly new buses, some are electrically powered and 80% of the fleet will be brand new.

Go Media GM Simon Teagle said: “We are really excited about this new partnership. Representing the Wellington bus fleet enables us to provide clients a one stop out-of-home media solution to reach audiences in the region, given our comprehensive classic and digital billboard portfolio.

“Winning this contract was also strategically important; it elevates our transit market share and provides a springboard to package advertiser solutions in the other markets we operate. We’re also looking forward to developing sustainable media asset innovations with the GWRC team.”

This expansion of Go Media’s bus advertising in Wellington further strengthens their portfolio, which also includes four other North Island locations and seven in the South Island (12 locations in total).
